Pete’s Advert Watch: Dogs in Space

March 15th, 2007 by Pete

In typical style of this blog I have decided to start a new section, like most of my other sections this will probably run for one or two posts and then fade into obscurity. The section is called “Pete’s Advert Watch” and the concept is I discuss product advertisements which have caught my attention recently.

My favourite advert currently is for Britain’s favourite dried dog food (I think it might be Bakers Complete). The storyline is brilliant, the voice over states that dogs would have to go along way to find a tastier dried dog food than this one. Some intrepid Dogs are then shown travelling into space, once in orbit of the earth they dock with a space station. What do they find on this space station? Only a collection of Space-faring dogs enjoying Britain’s Favourite dog food! How do they come up with these amazing ideas!

Space Dog

In the 1950s and 1960s the crazy Russians (USSR at the time) sent a number of dogs into space to determine if human space travel could be possible. The first animals intentionally sent into space were fruit flies, a Monkey called Albert II was the first mammal sent into space in 1949. Tragically Albert II died on return to earth due to a parachute failure.
